A Finance and Planning Manager for a large chemical or pharmaceutical company is involved in planning and allocating budgets, in particular for research and development. The main role involves ensuring that budgetary issues are in line with senior management strategic policy and that adequate funds are available to achieve the targets set out for a specific timeframe.

Personal skills

To enter the graduate scheme it is preferable to have a degree with some technical element for research purposes. Achieving the position of finance and planning manager will usually come through promotion based on experience.
